WordPress gives you to features for easily create a menu. Which is used in a navigation menu in your website like header menu, footer menu, and sidebar menu etc. They help users to find information and browse through a different section of your website. Navigation menu panel is a very important part of our website.
All WordPress theme at least come with one menu location and some of the WordPress themes come with multiple menu locations to accommodate for more complex websites features. There is no limit to create a menu in WordPress.
How to create navigation menu WordPress
Step 1: First you need to go Appearance -> Menus from your WordPress admin panel.
Step 2: Then Provide a name for your menu, e.g. “main header menu” and then click on the Create Menu button. This will expand the menu area.
Step 3: Next, you need to select the pages that you want to add to the menu. You can do this by selecting the pages listed on the left-hand side and clicking on Add to Menu button.
Step 4: After adding pages to the menu, select the theme location where you want to display the menu and click on the Save Menu button.
How to delete navigation menu WordPress
First, you need to select menu that you want to delete and see the bottom side of your menu and then click on Delete Menu link. Then after your menu will be deleted successfully.
How to add custom links in the navigation menu
It’s easy to add pages and categories in WordPress but when you want to add some social media link or add another location link then you have to use custom link option.
You need to just click on custom link tab from the left-hand column. There are two fields need to add in the custom menu first one is that add URL that you want to redirect and another is that to add a label that is displayed on a website. Then after clicking on Add to Menu button.
Arranging items in the custom navigation menu
As you know that each menu item that you added in arrange an order. for ex. the home page is in the first position and contacts us page is in the last position. You can easily rearrange menu by simply drag and drop a menu item to adjust its position in the menu.
Understanding the theme location of WordPress menu
A navigation menu is a theme feature of WordPress. The admin area only provides a user interface to add and manage those menus. WordPress theme having at least one theme location for a navigation menu. So of the theme having multiple menu locations like primary, secondary, footer menu etc.
By using this menu location we can manage the entire navigation menu in WordPress. like some of my call in the header and some of the call in the top header area.
